A little bit kooky & quirky. Always fun and looking on the bright side even if it gets ridiculous!

Which Came 1st?

Which came 1st?  The "Tobogganeer" family or the real family?  A client's family in Ontario decided to re-create a commissioned piece received by the mom for Christmas this year.  What a great idea!  Brilliant!

New Larger Sized Freewheelers

I've completed several new larger size Freewheelers.  Here are 2.  They're 8x10 matted to 11x14 so would fit into that size frame.  As they are ink and watercolour, the paintings do need to be under glass for protection.   It's the same whimsy, just bigger!  See my website ConnieChristensen.ca for more images.

Freewheelers Going to Chile

It's a long ride, but I have every faith these 12 Freewheelers will make it to Chile.  A winery in Chile to be precise! They're the perfect group to be making the trip.  Always environmentally conscience (they ARE cyclists), they're bringing their own wine glasses.

Ink and Pencils

I've been spending time lately on developing a method for transferring my small ink and watercolour sketches/paintings onto canvas.  I like the result of the method I used here.  It's ink, watercolour and acrylic on paper and then adhered to canvas.  It's a method I learned from Californian artist Robert Burridge .

Completing a painting a day has certainly given me a daily sense of accomplishment.  Having to post something daily on Twitter and Instagram means I better have something done.  But I can't pat myself on the back for too long as I have to start thinking of possibilities for the next day's subject. Think, think, think. .  .

Only 5 more days to go!

These are days 16 - 20 of my Paintings-A-Day.  They are still taking a big chunk out of my day with time spent doing 'dress rehearsals' which help me finalize a good composition.  Throughout my day, I am also constantly thinking/looking for the next appealing subject.  It's sounds easier than it is.  Sure, I might think painting a calculator or my printer is appealing, but does anyone else?

I've recently put a few on my etsy shop, so if you like any of these or the previous days' paintings, check out: Etsy - doo wadda wadda art-connie christensen

I am definitely changing the name of this self imposed challenge to Painting-A-Day as my prep sketches have morphed into fully finished paintings.  Coming up with a fresh idea everyday is really challenging me.  Perhaps I should have narrowed down the subject a bit.  Then I wouldn't be spending so much time on all the compositional elements for every piece, every day . Nah! Too restrictive for me right now.
