A little bit kooky & quirky. Always fun and looking on the bright side even if it gets ridiculous!

The Next 5 Paintings-A-Day

'Yellow Poppies' - ink & watercolour on paper

'Tattered Book, Tired Eyes' - ink, graphite & watercolour on paper

'Chickadee-dee-dee' - ink & watercolour on paper

'Spoodles' - ink, graphite & watercolour on paper

'Winter Soldiers' - ink & watercolour on paper

Here are the next 5 paintings for my commitment to sketch-a-day for 30 days.  They're more like paintings than sketches and each is taking way more time than I anticipated when I made the commitment.  But I just can't send something out into internet land that is too unfinished (in my mind).  Unexpectedly and unfortunately, they seem to be highlighting a little too much of my control issues - eek!

On to the next 5 days!

I'm dipping a toe into the 'do something everyday' camp.  I've chosen to do a Sketch-A-Day for 30 days.  Here are the 1st 5 days.  Future post will show the next 5 days.

I'm going to have to get way more efficient at choosing a subject if I want to get through 30 days. You'd think with almost limitless possibilities, choosing a subject would be easy.  But no.  I have made a hard to break lifetime habit of NOT making things easy.

To see the chosen subjects daily, you can follow me on Twitter (ConnieDooWadda) and Instagram (doo wadda wadda art).  To see them every 5 days, just check back here.

Devoting My Life to Serving My Peeps

This painting is the 2nd larger piece in the 'Line of Royalty' series. I also completed 2 smaller ones I'll post at a later date.

This Royal is:
- standing on guard for thee.
- serving and protecting.
- answering only to the public
- and fiercely standing for whatever other cliche you can throw out there.

20x20
mixed media-acrylic, paper, gold leaf.
$600 unframed (+ shipping)

The Pompous Jester

This piece is larger than the previous 'Line of Royalty' paintings.  It's 20x20.

This guy is carrying on the pompousness of his smaller brothers and sisters, but the joke may be on him.  Is he the king or does he look more like the jester?

New Series? Maybe.

I made several small 5x7 paintings of birds wearing crowns.  I think I'll call the series 'Line of Royalty'.

So far I have 4 of these small ones. The birds are blue and rather pompous looking. Well, really, how can you avoid looking pompous when you puff out your chest like that while wearing a crown?

I popped this one in a little black frame.

Going For the Gold

This piece is part of the March show at Evanescence Gallery and Art Studio .  The theme is 'Urban Bird' and loosely translates to the connection between women and birds.  It also refers to a woman who is obsessed by material objects and in this case it is GOLD. You go girl.  Strut your little blue body on over to that jewelry store!  I heard there's a sale on crowns.

12x12 on wide profile canvas

Bluebird of Happiness Installed

"The world is full of bluebirds and mittens. Now that I've put my doo wadda wadda glasses on, I'm seeing them everywhere. I think I saw a pair of doo wadda wadda shoes the other day. Just something about 'em that I never noticed before. Does your art have that effect on everyone, Connie, or is it just me?" - Virginia
